World Design Capital

🎈 It was a great time at the World Design Capital @wdcsandiegotijuana2024 celebration on Friday at @jacobscenter.

Thank you Carolyn Smith of the San Diego African American Museum of Fine Arts for the moment of recognition to those who have assisted in raising awareness and who have contributed to the work within the Black Arts and Culture District.

I was so happy to see Victoria Hamilton and Jonathan Glus of the San Diego Arts and Culture Commission.🥰 @sdartsculture Ramel Wallace @rameljwallace was in the building, he’s doing amazing work at @creativemornings_sd .. 🥰

UCP Barry Pollard and internationally known Maxx Moses were in the building. ✨ It was great seeing Web Developer DM and @allankosup of CalTrans. ✨

*Awesome Fact: Just before the event I stopped by our local Postal Annex in Market Creek Plaza to print out flyers for Oya Art Gallery & Boutique. 🌺

Postal Annex is in the exact same location where the Pop-Up Art Gallery was.

Postal Annex Owner Ragat is always super friendly. When they first opened I went in to check out their store and to share the story about the art gallery.

Collaborations like the one Southeast Art Team had with Jacobs Center made it possible for so many artists to see dreams become reality.

Opening an art gallery in the community to support local artists provided educational moments, team building, networking opportunities and individual growth for so many.

When large organizations lock arms with local artists and small businesses, the benefits to the community last a lifetime.

Mental health is the center of all things. When people are in a great space mentally, they can achieve everything they put their minds to. Access to resources make people happy. 😄

Oya Art Gallery & Boutique is a continuation of the goal shared by former Jacobs Center CEO Mr. Reginald Jones and I.

The 2-year anniversary of the new space Oya Art Gallery & Boutique located in Logan Heights is coming up and it’s always an open door for artists to exhibit and showcase their talents and gifts.

I can’t wait to see all of the amazing ways our gallery and the art team can collaborate with the World Design Capital Project. Congratulations to SD!🎈
