OYA on IG

In October 2021 the Southeast Art Team opened Oya Art Gallery and Boutique. This art gallery and boutique serves as an art studio, art gallery, a boutique, work space and event space for Creatives. Oya Art Gallery and Boutique is richly stocked with fine art, abstract art, portraits, prints, jewelry, hand-crafted items, energetic items, wellness products and other creations that celebrate Black culture.

Before Oya Art Gallery and Boutique we were inside Market Creek Shopping Center (compliments of partnering with the Jacob’s Center). Oya Art Gallery and Boutique is located at the Elk’s Lodge 6 Hensley St. SD CA on the 2nd floor (entrance on Commercial St up the piano stairs)

the very act of opening a gallery is important because it represents a rebirth of a Southeast San Diego arts culture that has been obliterated by decades of poverty, racial injustice and invisibility. A once-vibrant arts scene that fell dormant is back, she said.

Artists at any level are invited to reach out to the Southeast Art Team to discuss showcasing their work in the gallery. Artists and arts patrons should see Black expression and feel the pride, beauty and creativity of the community.
