Artist Kim Philips-Pea

Kim Phillips-Pea was born and raised in San Diego, California. Kim has always had a love for the arts beginning at Baker Elementary Music Magnet. Kim learned to play a variety of musical instruments, sang in the choir and eventually transferred to the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts.

Between advanced placement classes and drawing in her spare time, Kim continued with the arts long after high school. After becoming a Mother, Kim taught herself face painting in order to maintain a controlled working environment with her son due to his asthma.
Throughout the years Kim has been involved in a variety of creative activities such as working on murals individually and with local artists, setting up exhibits and artwork at events, hosting paint parties, workshops and volunteering in the Southeast San Diego community. Kim is co-founder of the Southeast Art Team which began as a SD Hip Hop 5K art team. She has worked on public art projects such the 2019 Let’s Live Let’s Love Peace Campaign with Councilmember Monica Montgomery and SDG&E. Kim’s current projects include working with local entrepreneurs and artists to expand their businesses through consignment at Oya Art Gallery & Boutique located in the city of San Diego and the San Diego Every Drop of Paint Tour which will be launching in February 2023. The gallery just celebrated its 1 year anniversary. It is a dream realized. On a bio dated in 2020, Kim’s goal was to open an art gallery.
